Canada launches new selection process for Express Entry categories
To deal with the labour shortage across the country, the minister of Immigration Refugee and Citizenship Canada announced today that a new process will be launched for category-based selection for Express Entry.
This will help Canadian employers to cope up with labor shortages and fill their vacancies with foreign workers who have required skills and education for those new announced categories. IRCC is focusing on 6 new categories for selection of candidates; these categories are as below:
- Strong French language proficiency
- Healthcare
- Science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) professions
- Trades such as carpenters, plumbers, and contractors
- Transport
- Agriculture and agri-food
IRCC will be providing more updates about this in coming weeks. This new selection process was needed to cater with the employment needs of Canadian employers. This will also help those foreign nationals get settled in Canada easily who have required skills and education in above-mentioned categories.
