New language test for Student Direct Stream

It was announced a couple of months ago that IRCC is going to introduce new language test for applicants applying under Student Direct Stream. The list of newly approved language tests is as following:

• Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program (CELPIP)
• Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL)
• Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic
• Test of English as a foreign Language Internet Based Test (TOEFL iBT)

On the top of it, applicants are also able to take IELTS General Training or Academic test to be eligible for SDS. Applicants are required to meet a minimum score in above mentioned Language tests. The required test score are:

• 7 for CELPIP
• 60 for CAEL
• 60 for PTE
• 83 for TOEFL iBT
• 6 for IELTS
