Extension of PGWP for those whose work permit or will expire from September 2, 201 to December 31, 2022 and for TR to PR pathway applicants
These new guidelines will provide an opportunity to foreign nations to work in Canada for additional 18 months.
Immigrations, Refugees and Citizenship Canada has implemented new measures for specific Post Graduate Work Permit holders whose work permit has expired. Effective August 2 nd , 2022 PGWP holders can get their work permit extended or apply for a new one if their PGWP expired or will expire from September 20, 2021 to December 31st , 2022.
These new guidelines will provide an opportunity to foreign nations to work in Canada for additional 18 months. These measures were announced by honorable immigration Minister Sean Fraser in April this year. The basic motive of this system was to help international students who were unable to apply their permanent immigration as CEC draws were on hold as of September 2021.
At the same time, IRCC announced that applicants for TR to PR pathway would also have an option to apply for an open work permit whose applications are still in process and they are waiting for the decision from IRCC.
IRCC has provided with few different scenarios that needs to be taken care of when you apply for new work permit or get your current work permit extended such as if your PGWP is expiring from October 2, 2022 to December 31, 2022 you will not be required to do anything. IRCC will issue you an updated work permit that will be mailed to you to your home address.
